Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 26, 2026
Version: 1.0
This Privacy Policy explains what Jarly collects, why, who can see it and how to delete it. It applies to the Jarly app on iPhone and Android, the Jarly web app at app.jarly.app, and the Jarly website at jarly.app.
1. WHAT WE COLLECT
What you give us:
Account details: your email address, your first and last name, and your password. Your name is also used to build the display name other people see. Your password is stored only in a protected form that cannot be read back.
Budgeting data: your budgets, with their currency, timezone and reset schedule, and the jars, savings goals, Funday, intention cards and punches in them, and the entries you record with their amounts, dates and notes. Each entry keeps who in a budget recorded it.
Private notes and checklists you add to a jar.
Settings: your default currency, whether you show a second currency, and your reminder choices (push and email on or off, how many days before a period ends, the time of day and your timezone).
Invitations: when you invite someone to a budget, the email address you enter and whether the invitation was accepted, declined or has expired.
What is made as you use Jarly:
An inbox of the reminders and alerts we send you, and a record of what has been sent, so that nothing repeats.
If you turn on push notifications: a token that identifies your phone, its platform (iPhone or Android) and when it was last used.
Consent records: when you create an account or accept updated terms, we keep the time, the version and a fingerprint of the exact text you accepted, and your confirmation that you are 18 or older. When your device sends them, we also keep your IP address and device type with those records. We keep them so we can show what you agreed to.
Technical data: when your device connects, our servers receive its IP address and device type. We use them to deliver and secure the service, and our hosting providers may keep them in their ordinary server logs.
Kept on your device: your sign-in session, and a few choices Jarly remembers, such as the budget you last opened, how jars are shown, which tips you have dismissed and your push token. On the web app these are kept in your browser's local storage.
What we do not collect: Jarly does not connect to your bank, does not ask for access to your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone, and does not receive payment card details. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers in the apps or on jarly.app, and jarly.app sets no cookies.
2. HOW WE USE IT
We use your data to run Jarly:
to sign you in and keep your budgets and their history, including closing each period and carrying leftovers forward
to share a budget with the people you choose
to show amounts in a second currency, using daily exchange rates that contain no personal data
to send the sign-in links and codes, invitations, reminders and alerts that you ask for or that the service needs
to keep the service secure and to show what you agreed to
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it.
3. WHO CAN SEE IT
Your budgeting data is private to you until you share a budget. Everyone in a shared budget can see everything in it, including its jars, goals, Funday, cards, entries, who recorded each entry, and the first and last name and display name on your profile. Jarly does not show them your email address.
Notes and checklists on a jar are private to the person who wrote them. When you invite someone by email, the invitation shows your name. Only the budget's owner can see the invitations sent from it.
Alerts about a shared budget, such as someone joining or a jar going over its target, go to its other members.
4. SERVICE PROVIDERS
We use these providers to run Jarly. Each handles your data only to provide its service to us.
Supabase hosts our database, signs people in and runs our server functions. It holds the data described in section 1.
Expo delivers push notifications, and passes them to Apple or Google to reach your phone. It receives your push token and the text of each message, which can include a jar's name and what is left in it.
An email service sends our emails from support@jarly.app. It receives the recipient's address and the content of each message.
Frankfurter provides daily exchange rates. Our servers ask it for currency rates, and no personal data is sent.
The host of the jarly.app and app.jarly.app websites delivers their pages.
We may also share data when the law requires it. We do not sell your data.
5. AGE
Jarly is for people who are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe someone younger has made an account, contact us and we will remove it.
6. KEEPING AND DELETING YOUR DATA
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. Archiving a jar, goal, card or Funday does not delete it, and each period keeps its history.
You can delete your account at any time from Profile, Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and profile, your settings, notes, inbox, push tokens, consent and age records, the invitations you sent, and every budget you own, with its jars, goals, entries and members' access, for everyone who shares it. In a budget owned by someone else, you are removed as a member, and the entries you recorded stay in that budget with your name taken off them.
An invitation sent to your email address stays on record in the budget that sent it until that budget is deleted.
7. YOUR CHOICES
You can change your name, email address and password in Profile. Under Profile, Notifications, you can turn push and email reminders and alerts on or off, and choose when they arrive. Every reminder email has a link that turns off reminder emails. Sign-in, security and invitation emails are not affected by it. You can also turn off push notifications in your phone's settings.
To ask for a copy of your data or to correct it, contact us.
8. SECURITY
We protect your data with access controls, so each person can read only their own data and the budgets they belong to, and with encryption in transit. No service can promise perfect security, so please choose a strong password and keep it private.
9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
When we change this policy, you will be told in the app and asked to review and accept the new version before you continue.
10. CONTACT
If you have questions about your data or this policy, write to support@jarly.app.
